TOWN OF TRAFALGAR WASTEWATER PROJECT
ENGINEERING REPORT – SEE HIGHLIGHTS
There have been a few minor changes since the PER approval letter:
1. With the final headworks improvements design, we do not need to replace the unit heater in the existing building.
2. We did not have to upgrade the 10” outfall pipe. This is a short segment of pipe that has a lot of slope and calculated capacity is adequate for plant expansion. We did not have confirmation of the slope at the time of PER.
3. Lab Building – we do not need to replace the HVAC. It had been replaced recently enough that we did not include in the project.
4. Site security – revised from camera system to a controlled gate (mechanically opened entrance gate with keypad or remote operator by staff)
5. Collection System modifications
* Scope of work reduced at lift stations. The town had to perform some of the piping rehab work prior to this project. We have maintained the remote monitoring and fall protection addition to the Perl Street and Spring Lake Lift Stations in this project scope. These are the two largest lift stations.
* Manhole rehabilitation was taken out of the project. This was a small amount of work and through discussion with town staff, they can do the work themselves much cheaper that it would be in this project. It was a relatively small amount of manhole rehab work, and it would have very likely been a sub-contract, which would have been marked up by a general contractor. We did include this in preliminary design, but it was removed from the bid scope in effort to try and cut costs where we could.
These scope revisions are pretty minor. Let me know if you need us to request any formal revision and we’ll be glad to put that together!
Best regards,
Lori
